I have been smoking for 25 years and want to stop. I smoke 1/2 pack a day. my first is 15 min after i wake. I know the cravings will be difficult but would like ideas on how to focus on other things. What type of over the counter drugs have the best outcome. Is there a stop smoking chat room?

I smoked as usual for the first couple months knowing I was quitting soon. The last month I cut back some a little at a time. Instead of taking an extra break at work to smoke I'd cut that one out and wait until the next break. Once it was my quit date I started my day at the gym and used the Nicorette mint gum that burns a little. Trust me, you'll WANT the burn. Good question. Any herb that will support the liver will be good to quit smoking because the liver removes the nicotine from the body. I would talk to a herbalist or someone knowledgable in a health food store. Some suggestions are milk thistle and dandelion.
Nicotine cycles through the blood and body for 14 days after you have quit smoking, so if you get past the two week mark, you will be have a good chance to stay quit.
Accupuncture is considered a good alternative to help stop smoking as well as hypnosis. I've never useed either of these methods to quit smoking, although I have used them for other things.

Smoking is both phsyiological and psychological addicting, so anything you can do to get emotional support while stopping smoking will be beneficial. Change can be stressful. Get enough, eat healthy, drink lots of water (take half your body weight in pounds and multiply by 2 - this is how many ounces of water you should take in). This will help the body flush out the nicotine. Also, don't start anything new while you are quitting smoking as you don't need the extra stress. And do the usual stuff, like don't hang out where people are smoking.

What has the highest success rate? I tried the patch, nicorrett gum, and laser therapy...none worked.

I quit over 90 days ago using the e cigarette http://www.ecigarettesnational.com so you can look at a few, it is also where i bought mine.
It mimics the act of smoking, looks like a cigarette, taste like a cigarette, even has a water vapor that looks like smoke when you take a drag, but only has water vapor, 1/10th the amount of nicotine of a regular cigarette.
