What is condersidered long term use (like how many years)? I have been smoking it since just before I turned 16 and i turn 19 next month. I'm trying to stop smoking it now, because I'm still young and have a great girlfriend which I plan on marrying someday. How many of you have given up pot and how did it go for you??
Thanks everyone
-Will
Man that aint long term biatch. I started when i was like 16, and im 35 now...i dont think it had anything to do with my divorce, i have a decent job as an engineer and i live in a nice detroit suburb, everything in moderation and you will be ok.
By the way....if your gf is really special, and she objects to the herbage, dont be an idiot, give up the herbage
These clips are from the BBC: Horizon documentary series entitled quot;We Love Cigarettesquot;. The advice Allen Carr gives is pretty damn good ...
In my entire life, I have smoked 9 or 10 cigarettes, all of them in the past year. And I just want to know, how much risk does that add to my long time health. I don't plan to smoke another one either way, so I don't need a bunch of people telling me to stop now, cause I know that already. I just want someone to give me an accurate assessment of the damage I may have already done to my health, and how serious it is.
The damage from those 9 or 10 cigarettes would not be worth worrying about as our bodies have remarkable powers of recovery.
A tiny bit of self destruction is unlikely to do any permanent or terminal damage.
Prolonged smoking can reduce your lifespan by about 12 years and give you stacks of health problems besides lung problems.
the dr wrote a perscription for buproban witch is zyban, it worked but it was driving me crazy, like having suacidal thoughts i stop that medicine now im fine, ive tryed gum patches, i mean there has got to be some help out there some where to stop this nicotine craving, please help me to now the easiest and quickest way to stop smoking.
I doubt this is what you want to hear, but this is what worked for me.
I tried many ways for years to quit, once quiting for a year, and again for three months. I kept wishing I didn't like to smoke so much.
What finally worked for me was when I realized that I don't really "like" to smoke. That feeling was just the chemical addiction forcing my body to want more. After I realized what was in control, it didn't exactly get easier, but it hardened my resolve. Anytime I slipped, I tried to get right back to it. Once I knew that cigarettes to me was like booze to an alcoholic, I was able to quit. I didn't want those cigarette companies using their chemicals to take advantage of me.
Any trick I could use to help I used. One of my favorites was to carry a toothbrush and toothpaste and to brush when I got that weird feeling in my gums.
I was determined and did not let down my guard. That was eighteen years ago and the smell of smoke finally annoys me.

I've been smoking weed for 14 years and its kinda old, but its so hard to stop. I know I wanna stop but everytime I try to get away from it someone comes around smoking it and I fall back into the smoke..can anyone help me with some logical answers? Im 27
Call on Jesus my brother, He will help you through it. You have to focus on your goal! You can do it, you'll regret it later if you don't. Like other's said, stay away from those that do smoke it. That's really not THAT hard!
I'm 16 and I've been smoking since I was 14.
It started off socially, like once a week but its only in the last year that its become a real habit.
I smoke around five a day, more if I'm with my friends.
I really want to stop, I know its difficult but it can be done.
I just want to know, is it too late or can my lungs slowly recover?
I also started smoking socially and quickly found I was becoming more and more 'social' even when by myself! I gave up smoking on 2nd July having smoked 20-30 a day for 15 years. After 5 and a bit weeks I feel so much better already. You will probably find that you cough a bit for the first couple of weeks -my breathing had never been worse! however, my lungs now feel so much better than they did when I smoked. and if you look at the timeline that someone else has posted here, you will see that in time your lungs will repair themselves completely. you can do it!
what is helping me is (a) I am using nicotine patches. i am not sure whether they really do anything or whether it is psychological but on the rare occasion that I fancy a cigarette I rub the patch! (b) find another addiction. Preferably not something else harmful though! I took up karate and kickboxing and while I couldn't breathe at all even in the warmup when I started, I am now completely addicted, train 15-20 hours a week and want to get superfit asap so really have no desire to mess it up by smoking.
So go for it!
