All opinions on it please!
YES YES YES YES YES
I read it when i was about 20. I didnt stop then - but what he said always stuck with me! I gave up for two weeks straight after....
I then wanted to try again so got the book and kept it around from the age of 22. I eventually gave up when I was 23.
The things he says are great and he changes your way of thinking about smoking - things like
"I'm not giving up smoking"
What exactly are you "giving up"?
You will instead become a non-smoker, your not giving up anything. Just by changing the fact you say i'm a non-smoker changes the whole concept from 'giving up'
There are loads of little things he says that stick with you. And these little tips and points completely tear down any logic to smoking.
The energy you will find from not smoking is quite impressive you will channel this energy into something and make it constructive...
this is no joke... once you give up smoking you know that you can achieve anything you want to, and that is a FACT.
I smoked 20 a day for 5 yrs and loved cigarettes but since i read his book i questioned what i was doing more and more as time went on.
I went thru scheduled periods of abstinence when i was giving up as i knew it was a stupid thing to do - each day i would challenge myself to go an hr longer without a benson(cig) - i just had to think about what he had said - and there will come a euphoric moment when u feel u can do it and u know u can and u can just become a non-smoker.
To this day i still feel I like i havent 'given up' but am simply someone who has the free will and the strength to CHOOSE not to smoke. Cos you have the power!!!!
If this sounds in any way preachy - v v v sorry. The book isnt at all its absolutely fantastic and written from a smokers point of view - he just really rips the whole idea of smokin in to tiny pieces and shits on it.
Introduction to Allen Carr#39;s Easyway to Stop Smoking
Was the book helpful and were you able to quit? I'm more than halfway through the book and am getting really nervous about quitting. HELP!!!!!

I read this about four years ago and stopped for 7 months. I now smoke as many as I did before.
A lot of it is about discovering the process that causes your addiction, and the point that most of what makes you want to smoke is in your mind. The nicotine in your body goes pretty quick when you stop, but the conditioning of your brain to smoke after a meal, after a hard day, in your work breaks etc. is the reason it is hard to stop.
My problem now I have started is that I understand the science and the mental conditioning factors and am smoking again, and now can't return to that theory or similar ones because I know they don't work for me.
I'm currently reading this but would like to know if anyone here has had any success from it or have any other suggestions that don't include hypnotism or patches and gum.
Thanks :]
I have read the book and I stopped for about a couple of weeks, however a friend of mine stopped smoking after she read the book. I no longer smoke and I did not use patches or anything like that, I found smoking to hard to do as there is nowhere you can smoke. By the way for me the best reason for stopping is that I do not plan my day around a cigarette anymore. I can not give you any advise on how to stop smoking just that you must want to stop, for me the biggest problem when I first stopped smoking was the fear of been a non smoker for the rest of my life, that past after about a week. I think is mentioned that in the Book, however I can not remember. But if you continue been smoke free you will understand the freedom I am talking about and the freedom that could only be understood by ex smokers. Good luck.
I don't mean the goofy gay guy from The Friday Night Project. I know two people have have quit smoking after reading it. Has anyone else found it helpful? I'm just a bit cynical
ME - OK I'm not saying he was entirely responsible, but he certainly helped me to get in the right frame of mind.
Most of the stuff he comes up with actually made sense to me.
I did stop and start with the book a couple of times - and over the years before AC i stopped a million times.
Eventually quit last March - i was really annoyed to find that about 4/5 days in was as bad as it got, i had been at that point so many times thinking that it would just keep getting worse.
Go for it - what have you got to lose? By the way - AC tells you NOT to stop smoking until you have read the book - he doesn't ask you to stop while reading!
Good Luck - Email me if you want some support from a non evangelical ex smoker.

Allen Carr#39;s Easyway to Stop Smoking: Colleen Rusholme#39;s first ...
I met Colleen through her colleague, "Humble" Howard Glassman, who quit smoking with us five years ago next month. On air he publicly challenged Colleen - a pretty hardcore smoker - to quit smoking and Colleen, never one to shirk a challenge, accepted. I felt this was a very brave move on Colleen's part, particularly as she was experiencing many of the fears that most smokers have whenever they think about quitting ("The cigarette has always been there for me. I'll be losing my best friend!"), let alone the additional pressure of doing it in front of hundreds of thousands of listeners. This morning, I was a guest on the Humble, Kim, Colleen and Rick breakfast show to celebrate Colleen's anniversary....
