How do I get water marks out of my velvet smoking jacket?

A velvet smoking jacket I own has had a small amount of water spilled on it and this has caused some of the fibres to lie down and it is a slightly different colour in those areas. I think it is a man-made velvet not proper silk / cotton velvet.

Any one know what to do? Thanks.


take it to your local dry cleaners...show them the spots and ask their opinions!

I'm thinking about painting a thin 'tache on my young son and training him to walk about the house with a hand in one pocket of the said jacket, possibly with the addition of a small plastic sherry glass to hold in the other, purely for my own amusement.

I think it would be cool to have a smoking jacket for when I am sitting around the house smoking one of my fine briar pipes or a fine cigar. Should I get a smoking jacket? My wife has no opinion, so I am going to ask the yahoo answers community instead.
