Smoke????????
BFF

my 74 duster gives off a white smoke on the passenger side near the back of the engine ...... im thinking its a head gasket but im not sure the smoke goes away wen i puh the throttle . its not a lot of smoke but it also has a wierd smell....ANy ideas on wat it could be?????????
its a 318 small block!!!

Yes, it sounds like a blown head gasket. Check the coolant for signs of oil and check the oil for signs of coolant. There may not be signs of a water/oil mix yet because the gasket may only be leaking at this time and not fully blown. When it does fully blow the smoke will be constant and you will lose large amounts of coolant. Unlike modern cars a 74 duster is easy to work on, with minimal mechanical ability you could remove the valve cover, have it machined, and install a new gasket yourself quite easily and save several hundreds of dollars.

The problem could also be rings or valves, if there's no coolant loss or mixing with oil but it may be too early to tell but the smell with the smoke tells me its the head.
Eat my dust...er.

where to buy cigar in singapore? near the east side will be better. thanks =). please state the quality of the cigar and its cost price also.

Look up tobacconists in your phone directory and chat to them. Most of the big international hotels along or near Orchard Road have cigars for sale as well. Expect to pay anywhere from $S30 and up for a really decent cigar. Look for Monte Cristo if you can find them. Always a good bet with cigar smokers.

Neighbour smokes downstairs and the smell and smoke comes up to my apartment what can i do?
Just for Kicks.

The land lord is known to do nothing about anything and is very hart to find. And ive asked the guy to smoke on the balcony or something but he just continues on smoking in the bathroom and strong smoke comes up and spreads through the whole apartment. Anything I can do? If necessary, legally?

Your neighbor has the right to smoke in his own home. However, YOU have the right to live in a smoke-free environment. You shouldn't have to breathe second-hand smoke, which has been deemed harmful to one's health.

One thing you can do is call the health department in your city. They may be able to direct you to the proper city officials to contact in such a case. I'd find out everything you can as far as your rights, and I'd take action.

I would write a letter to the landlord and send it registered mail so that he has to sign for it. He can't stop the man from smoking, but he may be able to do a number of things to alleviate the smoke. It may be possible to install a stronger ventilation fan in the man's apartment, and in yours.

It is the responsibility of your landlord to provide a reasonably safe, healthy environment for his tenants. As far as the legal issues involved here, I can't say. I don't know. But if a city health or building inspector verified what you're saying, I think your landlord would be forced to do something about it. I also think you could legally break the lease and perhaps recover all or part of any rents paid within a reasonable time AFTER he has been notified if he fails to fix the problem. And I may be not be correct here, but I think he may be responsible if you were to develop any health problems stemming from this situation.

You have to look out for yourself. And stand up for yourself. Your landlord isn't going to do anything until you force him to.
You should NOT have to pay rent and put up with a smoke-filled, smelly apartment. Good luck

downstairs neighbour smokes and I am upst what to do how to get rid of smoke smel?
ceci n'est pas une pipe

I live in two unit old house. Downstairs neighbours smokes, every time they smoke I feel like I have a cigarette, how to block the smoke coming to my place?

If you share a common duct system, there's not anything you can do to prevent the smoke from entering your part of the house. You can, however, help control the odor by setting small bowls of white vinegar around the house. For immediate relief, wet a towel with the vinegar, wring it out, and walk through your house, swinging the towel around. I know that sounds bizarre, but it works (the vinegar will absorb the smoke odor).

  • MND continues to throw smoke bombs over role of PAP “grassroots ...

    From our Correspondent

The National Development Ministry has continued to throw smoke-bombs over the role of PAP “grassroots advisers” in a letter written by its press secretary Lim Yuin Chien, which was published in the Straits Times Forum today.

The letter was a direct rebuttal of a biting commentary published last week by Straits Times senior correspondent Sue-Ann Chia who earlier questioned the seemingly conflicting roles of a MP and grassroots adviser.

Mr Lim wrote that “the roles of MP and adviser are distinct and separate, even though government MPs, wearing their other hat of advisers, are expected to perform both roles.”
