Do you have to be 18 in Massachusetts to go into a CVS/Walgreens to buy a smoking patch? And if not, which brand is most effective?
i really want to quit bad! and i know when i was in rehab, they put me on the patch, and it didnt work?

I also used the patch and it didn't work for me either. I think it has to be a motivation thing. If you reeaallly want to quit then you prolly could do it without much help. Keep trying to quit and I guarantee you will. Look, you didn't learn to smoke overnight so you aren't going to quit overnight.....Good Luck!

After nearly 11 weeks, today was my first day without a nicotine patch. I miss smoking. Magazines suck. Carrots make you poop. A LOT!

Tomorrow is me and my husband's set date to stop smoking. I'm going to pick up some stop smoking patches today. Do you think there's a difference between the Nicoderm CQ patch and the much cheaper generic Equate brand patch?

No, there isn't. Check the boxes when you get there. The ingredients are exactly the same. The Equate box will say "Compare to NicoDerm CQ." They can't say that unless the ingredients are exactly the same.

If you have never smoked before, is it bad to use a Nicoderm patch?

Not really

There is a danger you may get some side effects. The patches contain nicotine, which is a drug like alcohol, caffiene e.t.c, and people not used to it can get nauseas, dizy or slightly light headed after smoking for the first time, but I'm not sure if this due to the nicotine or other chemicals in cigarette smoke.

healthwise, nicotine can damage your arteries, increasing your isk of a heart attack, but nicoderm pattches don't have any tar or other cancer causing chemicals of cigarettes, and uthe impact of using a patch only once is very very tiny.

I started on step 2 because i don't smoke that much although I have been smoking for about 10 years. I feel awful. I couldn't sleep and had tons of bad dreams. I am hot and shaky and nauseous. I have used the patch before but didn't feel like this. Is this normal?

yep that's the patch.. im not sure what the manufacturer says, but friends i know, who have quit using the patch, tell me never to sleep with the patch.. put it on first thing in the morning.. they cite all those symptoms..

you may have guessed from my answer, that i know a bunch of folks who have quit.. that is true i belong to a support group, found it much easier than trying to do it alone, and i dare say more successful.. i attend meetings both locally and on line.
