smokers quit

Im wondering what the average cost is to do tv ads, magazine ads, etc. for programs that help smokers quit.

also-- im doing this for a project where we make a law and talk about how it would work if it were passed. My law is to stop smoking around children. what would the legislation have to pay for if this law were passed besides what i talked about above?

I "Quit" but had a breakdown the other day and smoked again, then I felt fine. What are ways to vent stress, without smoking, when you have been a smoker before?

Yes, I know its bad for my health and it stinks. That's why I dont want to use smoking for stress vent.

What are methods you guys have used?

Where I live, we already have laws that forbid smokers to smokes in bars or inside and that's a good things from our government. It's a step forward to improve our lifestyles but is it enough?

I was a smoker for 29 years. When I smoked it didn't matter what anyone else did, said or how many laws were passed, I wasn't going to quit. I finally DID quit 5 years ago but I did it for me. You can provide lots of encouragement but I believe there's really no way to help someone quit until, for whatever reason, s/he wants to do it for him/her self.

if you are an smoker, do you really think that the government by raising taxes on cigarettes or by putting those nasty pictures of mouths with cancer or damaged lungs in your cigarettes packages will make you quit smoking? Do you think those tactics are effective?

I'm not a smoker but my dad is and he is not the least bit affected by any tax raise or by any horrible picture of burnt lungs. So, these tactics are apparently ineffective. The only thing that can make my dad stop smoking is a ban on cigarettes, which I guess will never happen.

Good question, but I am sure Obama has this figured out already. Probably place a federal tax on something everyone uses like food.
