Been at it for 17 years, smoking that is. I quit once for 2 years in the middle there, tried to quit 3-4 times since then. Yesterday I had enough, bought some patches and slapped one on this morning. I use the patch as it always has gotten me through the unbearable first few days. Doing ok tonight, but I'm worried about coming off the 1st stage and going to that 2nd stage. Last time, that's when I started back up again. Who has had success with the patch and what worked for you?
I tried the patch and it was unsuccessful for me. I just tried that new prescription drug called Chantix, that worked better than ANY thing that I have ever tried! Quitting is really mind over matter and you have to want to be a non smoker more than you want to be a smoker. You can do it! I know that you can if that is what you really want, have faith in yourself and your ability to get rid of things that will effect your life in a negative way! Be strong and dont ever quit quitting, your worth it!

I am now an ex-smoker, but still have the cravings. I have been on the patch for 3 days and it feels GREAT to breathe again, i am just worried about slipping up again and how bad I will feel...any advice from ex smokers?
I really hope that your patch quite goes well! I tried the patch and it didn't work well for me. After about a week I was smoking again. Now I use the Electronic Cigarette, not sure if you have heard of it. I have been smoke free now for about a month or more. I do not have an urge to go back to regular smoking at all! Check out http://esmoketalk.com for others who are using it.
You can also check out http://www.njoy.com or http://www.puresmoker.com for starter kits. They are a healthy alternative to smoking. AND you can smoke them inside places that don't allow smoking due to the fact that there is no second hand smoke
i wat to quit smoking and i am pregnent whould it be bad to go on the patch just to help me for the first few days
id say about 5 days with a patch would help me.... i have tryed with my 2 other pregnancys to quit and i couldnt i guess i cut down but i was not ableto quit. but if the patch can help id want to try and quit for this baby!.....?????????????
I've never actually read the side of the boxes for the patch, but I'm assuming it would say do not use while pregnant. Just like 99% of medicines do.

The Best Treatment Option For Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal tunnel syndrome is known to have an increased risk of flaring up in smokers. Smoking diminishes blood oxygen supply to the body, including the wrist and hand. Smoking also leads to greater problems with inflammation and the tightening up of capillaries. CTS flare-ups can therefore be reduced and better prevented if you quit smoking.
Unfortunately, smoking is very, very difficult to quit for many of those who do. Smoking has been called one of the most addictive habits in the world, similar to heroin addiction, in fact. It’s so addictive that those who smoke do so even in the face of overwhelming evidence that it’s extremely unhealthy. And although many light up with a smile on their faces, many do so with guilt. Smoking can relax smokers, and it can give them a burst of energy both mentally and physically that helps them stay calm under pressure. Many people who smoke also like the taste of the tobacco and in fact consider smoking a sensual experience. State and local governments have begun to take advantage of this smoking addiction by taxing cigarettes and other tobacco products significantly and thus helping to fill state coffers. Those who support high cigarettes and tobacco product taxes defend their position by saying that such high taxes will cause people to voluntarily quit smoking, even though this isn’t true for many people. In fact, relatively few people have quit smoking at least to the present time because of these taxes. Nonetheless, governments continue to impose them because it brings in monies. The fact that smokers continue to smoke even in the face of these high taxes only underscores how hard it can be to quit smoking.
