reasons to quit smoking

I know for fact it causes lung cancer, it cost lots money, smells awful, can make my teeth yellow, im looking for more reasons to quit so i can make a commitment to quit.

No one can convince you to quit...you have to want to do it...I smoked since I was 17, then I got pregnant at 19 and quit the entire time I was pregnant...then started again after my daughter was born..I made the decision to quit for her...I didn't want her born with lung problems....so, its all up to you...

I am not a smoker, but often come across people who are very "protective" of their choice to smoke. Why do people start smoking in the first place, then after a time, why do they want to quit?

When they are young they think it makes them look "cool" and mature ( they do not realize it makes them look stupid). Once they try it, they are hooked and it is extremely difficult to stop. Cigarettes have addictive chemicals added to them to get people addicted - it sells more cigarettes. Not only are cigarettes a death sentence and makes people smell disgustingly bad, have you noticed that most people driving broken down trashed cars are smokers? If they took the $300 or more a month they pay for cigarettes and spent it on a car payment instead of cigarettes, they could drive something far more dependable. And the reason smokers are so denfensive about quitting - they do not want to admit that tiny little thing has them completely under its control and they are too weak to overcome it.

I'm putting together a list of reasons to quit smoking. Just some quick concise answers, particularly points that would strike a chord with image-conscious teenagers e.g stunting growth, early greying.

Points that aren't as well known or publicized would be great.
