Lately, I have heard that when someone quits smoking, they die in matter of years. Is there a website i can look at for satistics?
Absolutely not true.
Statistically, the sooner you quit smoking, the *less* likely you are to develop bronchitis, emphysema, heart disease, stroke, cancer, or any other smoking related complications. After 15 years of being smoke free, the risk of smoking related health problems drops to only slightly higher than those who have never smoked.

After 14 years of smoking It's been three days he has been smoke free. His main reason, among many others, is he is going to be a father. I'm looking for a link, maybe from youtube or something similar that I can show my husband for inspiration when he feels like giving up. Something more along of the lines of so and so dying as a result with a touching story. Or Peter Jennings heart felt story. Stuff with data and statistics does very little. All link will be greatly appreciated. I know they are out there, I saw so many growing up but where are they now.
These are really good tips I have heard to stop smoking. Hope they help.
Because a smoker forms the habit of putting something in their mouth, and it's like always a cigarette. you will need something else to put into your mouth, like lollipops.
Have a peppermint each time you crave a cigarette, the craving will go away somehow.
Be sure to have lots of water, the nicotine will wash out within 48 - 72 hours. Let's say, the same amount as some scientist discovered. 6 - 8 glasses a day.
Make sure you get a lot of fresh air and exercise, it will help your brain recover
Have faith. Thinking you can't do it over and over won't help.

He smokes weed, not too much but enough to bother me. I can't convince him that it's bad, so can you guys give me some ammo? Health statistics, i don't know. Thanks!
Remind him that the stuff inside is toxic. It will shorten his life. People don't want to kiss smokers. Also remind him that many people die from second hand smoke (be dramatic). Smoking's gross, i'm with you on that.
My doctor said that cold turkey works best for most but the statistics I've read don't seem to agree. They read that different things work best for different people and I've never made it for long with cold turkey. I'd love to hear what worked for others.
I went to a lifeline clinic in Jacksonville Fla - they have locations nationwide and got a shot for $350. It works by blocking the nicotene receptors - which means no withdrawl or carvings. It was nothing short of amazing as I had smoked 20 years and had no withdrawl!
My parents smoked obver 40 years and used Chantix successfully. Your doc has to write an Rx for this med.
Patches, gum, lozenges and such just didnt work for me - but may be something you wish to try first.
Many insurances cover stop-smoking meds and the IRS actually allows a $300 deduction for these treatments so save recipts if you have out of pocket expenses and itemize on your taxes!
The best way to quit is by researching all your options and talking to your doctor about what is best for you.
I can tell you I feel like a new person - I breathe easier, stopped snoring, can smell flowers blooming and food tastes different ---better!
Goodluck and best wishes in smoking cessation success!
