If you have to pick one, use the patch. The inhaler reinforces the hand to mouth habit of smoking.

I experimented with it, and with the other nicotine replacement products. The one that I ended up finding most useful was the Commit nicotine lozenges, but your mileage may vary -- I suggest you try them until you find the one that works for you.

Quitting smoking, herbal smoking mixtures, the inhaler or the patch?

i took up the habit of smoking at the young age of 13, im 15 now, and i dont want to continue this habit, 2 years is long enough
so i heard this thing about herbal smoking mixtures, i thought i could give them a try as sort of a crutch while i try to quit, along with the patch or a smoking inhaler, where would i get the herbal smoking mixture and should i use the batch or inhaler?
(please do not start saying im stupid for taking up the habit so young, im aware of how stupid and irresponsible that decision was, and i dont need to be informed. at least im trying to quit okay?)
im not talking about herbal mixtures with nicotine or chemicals in them,
im talking herbal mixtures that contain a drug called called Lobelia, which is in nicotene gum, actually its the main ingredient for nicotene gum, Lobelia confuses the brain into thinking its nicotene, theres a science behind it, scroll to the bottom of this page and read about Lobelia

I've not quit smoking myself (never started), but my sister has.

She also quit heroin a few times. She feels that quitting smoking is harder to do.

Most of this is because of the mental addiction as well as the physical. Most people use the patch to take care of the mental addiction, then slowly taper the strength of the patch down to take care of the physical addiction.

Both the use of herbal cigarettes and an inhaler will do little for your mental addiction, so are therefore unlikely to be as helpful for quitting.

Also helpful would be cutting your association with people who smoke and avoiding activities that you have built an association with the act of smoking. Maybe that means not hanging out behind the mall or stop drinking coffee or something... different for everyone.

You will probably also need to find some things to do with your hands. Keep yourself busy, both mentally and just plain with something to do.

quit smoking?

i am trying to quit smoking,i am/was a heavy smoker, since having a nervous breakdown i did'nt smoke for nearly 6 days(not one)on the sixth day i broke(much to my dissapointment)i have halved my smoking quantity but really want to stop altogether due to the bad health facts of smoking,i have tried the nicorette inhalers in the past, did'nt do much good as i only lasted a day with that, any genuine answers are greatly appreciated, thanks.

I too was a very heavy smoker - also a drinker.it took me almost 2 decades after I quit drinking to quit smoking, and I tried several times.I used the patch successfully.I also carried straws cut into cig-sized pieces to fiddle with,it was crucial that I have one in my hands or mouth.
as for my head- where most of the drama was happening-
I took a page from the AA program, and told myself that I could NEVER have JUST ONE cigarrette again,if I had ONE I would have to smoke forever. For me that was the truth...and the key. my twisted mind would tell me that I could just "have one,and then stop"and I had to remember that was my addiction talking.my answer had to be no.always.the one time I listened to that voice, I fell off the wagon and smoked more heavily than ever for three more years.
I finally quit for good in april of 2004.I wont BS you.I still would LOVE to have a smoke.but if I can find something else to do,I don't have to go though that hell again.so I find something else to do...I hope you make it.
