What are the "quit smoking campaign" benefiting by telling us not to smoke?
Quit Smoking Campaign

They tell us to stop smoking because it's dangerous ( we all know) but what are they benefiting by telling us not to smoke? Why is it important for them telling people not to smoke, I know that it is for health reasons but what do they win from this?

Less taxpayer money going to the gov't to treat patients in the hospital who developed lung cancer from smoking or 2nd hand smoking. Plus, it's just a nice feeling to know you're preventing many people from suffering the ill affects of smoking.

how will the government replace the tax revenue and jobs lost to their anti smoking campaign if we all quit?
Poster Design for "Quit Smoking" Campaign 01

the revenue and customs rake in millions plus per year in tobacco tax and income tax from those working in the industry. when its gone - who pays!

Of course the taxes will have to go up elsewhere. In my opinion, all these do-gooders trying for a total ban on smoking are actually shooting themselves in the foot as they will eventually be out of pocket..

I hear all the time how much the NHS will save. For me I have rarely used the NHS (Spose Im lucky for being ralatively healthy) As I see it, I am in huge credit with the NHS due to the ammount I have put in through taxes, if I were to get ill later on in life I shall only be getting my moneys worth what I have paid into it. The NHS doesnt lose money cos I smoke.

Do you think Obama really quit smoking especially during the stress of a presidential campaign? ?

Doesn't really matter...I did not quit smoking during the stress of the presidential campaign, so why should Obama?

You have to quit smoking to go to university in Korea - comments?
Quit Smoking!

SEOUL (AP) - Getting into a university in North Korea will come with a new requirement for students - giving up smoking.

For years, the communist country has been staging an anti-smoking campaign, with leader Kim Jong Il even calling smokers one of the "three main fools of the 21st century," along with people ignorant of music and computers.

Comments ???

I think that's actually a pretty good idea, but it's so hypocrytical for him to say that the 2 other main fools are people ignorant of music and computors when a lot of these, more so computors, aren't always readily available to his people. I could be wrong about that though. You can't always trust what you hear on the news.

why is the government spending so much money on quit smoking campaigns??
One of those days..

They're doing everything they can to get people to stop smoking why don't they just ban them and have done with it! and if they're not going to ban them why don't they just leave the people who smoke alone, people will stop smoking when they want to stop not because of some add on the telly they're wasting millions on tax payers money and the tax on the cigarettes them selves, maybe if they didn't make such a who ha about it then kids wouldn't wonder what all the fuss is about and take up the habbit in the first place!

It is impossible for Government to Ban cigarettes as it generates a substantial tax and income for the Government and also employs a huge Labor force.

All that Government can do is to ban smoking in Public places, and any area they feel is necessary and can try to reduce the consumption.

If man alone do not realise and change no law can work out.

Government is doing their best to educate the public and bad effect of smoking the best they could.*

  • New Health Threat: Third-Hand Smoke and the Smoking Campaign ...

[Third-hand smoke] is the term being used to describe the invisible yet toxic brew of gases and particles clinging to smokers’ hair and clothing, not to mention cushions and carpeting, that lingers long after smoke has cleared from a room. The residue includes heavy metals, carcinogens and even radioactive materials that young children can get on their hands and ingest, especially if they’re crawling or playing on the floor.
