I feel as though I am smoking way to much. Almost everyday for years now... How can I stop this drug addiction? What are great ways to get me hooked on being healthy n sober instead of tired,stupid and lazy... I really want to quit a.s.a.p so please be serious with your answers... Do not use substitutes like gum, chocolate or some sort of rehab” program, because in that case you’ll be feeling like victim doing contribution(that’s sad) and it will be difficult, so after some time you’ll be smoking again. Don’t blow the whole of this matter. You don’t have to go to see the doctors for such thing. Understand that there is nothing to “quit”. Simply don’t smoke and be happy about it.

I'm a marine so in my line of work, youre either stressed out or bored out of your mind. I've only been smoking a few years now, but i find myself doing it more and more as time goes on. Without patches or gum, what are some other ways to kick the habit while i still can?
The first thing that any stop-smoking plan needs is commitment. If you’re not committed to being smoke free, you will not succeed. Period.
Figure out why you want to quit, and make the decision. Tell all of your friends – that way if you fail you’re also suffering the humiliation of having publicly failed. Give away your cigarettes or throw them in the garbage. Toss your ash trays. For a few weeks steer clear of bars and places where a lot of people are smoking.
The downside to the gum and the patch is that you still have the nicotine. You start to get over the need to have a cigarette in your mouth, but you still have the nicotine, so you’re still addicted to the drug.
There are drugs you can take that will help with the psychological part – Xyban is one of them.
I went with cold turkey. I told everyone that I was going to do it and not fail. I broke all of the glass ashtrays and tossed everything in the garbage. I gave my friend the 3 packs that were still in my purse. I flushed the 7 cigarettes in my open pack. Then I went to a movie, went on a bike ride, took a long bath, went for a nice dinner at a non-smoking restaurant, and suffered for 4 days.
It’s been 9 years and I’m doing great. Best decision of my life.

Is it all in your head? Do you recommend the patch? The gum? Just stopping cold turkey?
Or are there any programs out there that can really help someone to quit smoking permanently?
I don't believe in the hypnosis method - but I am open to other suggestions.

I am a very strong person..so when I said "stop"..I just stopped and I made SUCH A DEEP decision that I never looked back..my friends couldn't believe it..but I understand the human mind and how it works
I REALLY REALLY recommend reading "unlimited power" by Anthony Robbins and listening to his Audio because he tells you HOW you can do anything basically
in the end...wasting money on the patch and gum and other b.s are just fake ways to get you addicted to other things
it's not "quitting" smoking..it's STOPPING
...in the end you need to make a DECISION..
either a life scare that will motivate you, or you just wanting to be BETTER..helping your body..it just doesn't make logical sense to smoke..

I'm going to quit so I really am not looking for information on how smoking harms the baby or anyone else, I already know that so you can save the lecture for someone else. <~~~~~see I already started to quit, can't you tell by how crabby that sounds. I don't smoke all day, just in the evenings after work. I have a professional job that i take very seriously but i enjoy unwinding after work by having a smoke. I want to quit though as i know how bad it is for me and even my eating habits have changed due to my taking up smoking. Anyone with previous experience, please help!!!
There are 12 step programs to quit anything.
Like everything else, the first step is just quitting. The first day is hard, the second slightly easier, and so on.
If quitting altogether is too hard, drop back from every day to just weekends or whatever. You just need to find something else to do with your time. I find hot tubs relaxing...
PS- I have two VERY good friends who split over MJ. I thought they'd be married forever.
