hey whats up i had one cig today and two cigs two days ago and that was my first in like two months or so well my mom found matches in my pocket and is going to give me a nicotine test here this week and i want to know how many days it takes to get out of your system cause for one ive heard that is one for a piss test and there is one for a saliva test but yeah let me know thanks later i need to know NOW
Nicotine only stays in your bloodstream for a few days, but that is not what they are checking for in a blood / urine test.
They test for cotinine. About 80 percent of nicotine is broken down to cotinine by enzymes in your liver. Cotinine can stay in your bloodstream for 6 to 8 MONTHS!!!!
If you want a clean test, I would recommend going to a health food store and finding products that will clean out your blood. The liquid one shots will work by making you urinate frequently. You can also get the ones that are at least a week taking daily pills, even though they are expensive.
After the test, cotinine and nicotine will get back into your bloodstream from fat being burned that held the nicotine. So you won't be clean for ever.
Oh, and you should have said that you and your friends were lighting fireworks.

I went on line and purchased a detox kit. I haven't smoked for about 6 weeks. I have an exam scheduled for next week. Has anyone tried those detox kits? Do they really work? Or what do I have to do to make sure that nicotine is not in my system. I believe that I will have blood drawn and a urine test done that night.
The life insurance is obviously not for me I will be dead when it is collected and FYI I do not plan on smoking ever again... And have no plans on dieing anytime soon either. For a smoker it is more than double a non smoker rate. Again I vow to NEVER smoke again...
I agree completely with "domers." I know you're not planning to die -- no one does unless they commit suicide -- but if you die within the first two years of the policy, the insurer will probably find out from your personal physician that you used to be a smoker. If the application asks whether you have "ever" smoked, or if you've smoked within the past year or so, and you lie, the insurer WILL rescind the policy. Your beneficiary will receive nothing and the premiums paid will go to your estate.
Long after the cotinine (the by-product of nicotine) disappears from your blood and urine, the effects of your years of smoking does increase your mortality rate. A higher premium is fair, given what your body has gone through.
So don't chance it. Fess up to being an ex-smoker, pay the higher rate and after you're smoke-free for whatever period of time the company requires, ask for a premium reduction.

the tests are reliable. As for validity, that is another matter open for interpretation. More info is needed to determine the "purpose" of the testing, who is doing it, who is being tested and what are the consequences.

I have a friend who just quite smoking and he wants to know how long he should wait before he goes to get life insurance (to get the physical exam). He would like to wait until there is no more (detectable) nicotine in his system. How long should he wait to get underwriting?
The actual enzyme that is detected (by a blood test) that reveals the prescence of nicotine in the system is called cotinine and is detectable for between 7-10 days after the tobacco product was smoked.
The person makes a good point above in that the life insurance company will deny the claim if he is a smoker anyway so he would be paying non-smoker rates for nothing.
Additionally, tell your friend to have an ounce of personal integrity and refrain from cheating the company or more importantly, the policy holders like you and I whose premium rates are based on not having people defraud the insurer we deal with.
I smoke, yeah duh its dumb. Nerve problem whatever. Anyway my mom's insurance compnay is going to do a nicotine test on me and my mom. She doesnt smoke she nothing to worry about. What can I do to get it out of my system?
i had this same problem on a physical i had...drink a whole lot of water and propel. Like im not talking about a bottle more, im talking about where your having to get up to pee every 10 minutes. do this and it will wash out.

Free Health Testing and Advice at Your Pharmacy: Online Health ...
In a recent national survey by The Patients' Association, almost half of those interviewed were not aware that they can get help and advice from their local high street pharmacy on a range of health issues including weight management, stopping smoking, cholesterol tests, diabetes screening, and blood pressure checks. New data from GP surgeries shows that the number of people diagnosed with diabetes last year in the UK has increased by over 145,000.
The health survey supports a new campaign called All About Health , launched by AAH Pharmaceuticals, which aims to inform people about the health services and support available online and from their local pharmacy. So far, 600 pharmacies are taking part in the campaign across the UK.
