Whatever happened to the cocaine and nicotine mummy story?
high

Were cocaine and nicotine really found in ancient egyptian mummies and, if so, how did they get there?

Of course I don't know for sure, but I can guess. If the Egyptians traded with Phoenicians(Im not sure if the time period is the same) they in turn may have traded with Central American tribes to obtain these subtances. Phoenicians sold it to Egyptian Doctors who in turn used those products medicinally. makes sense since those items would have been expensive and used for wealthy patrons, which in turn are the ones who were mummified.

What is more difficult to quit - Cocaine or nicotine ?
favourite drug

I am a volunteer and come in contact with drug addicts sometimes

I have quit both and can tell you that the smoking was much harder to quit. I am still an addict though I simply have switched my addictions. (I only snorted coke never smoked it or put it in my veins big difference there, that kind of addict would be much harder to quit coke)

I quit cocaine, meth and smoking and took up sugar and games. So now I am drug free and alcohol free but have a weight problem and I can tell you changing that cycle is far harder than anything else because you do not just quit eating and to lose the weight requires discipline to get out and exercise and not have that extra snack.

I know I answered more than your question but I thought it might help you to see your answer :) We have to learn what is causing us to do these things and work through them.

Hope that helps and thank you for taking the time to volunteer it makes a huge difference in peoples lives.

I think when they say that they only mean that people who are addicted to heroin, etc have a higher success rate of getting and staying clean...you know how many smokers end up going back to it.

  • Amino Acid May Help Reduce Cocaine Cravings -- Signs of the Times News

Cocaine is a highly addictive drug characterized by frequent relapses. Recent advances in brain imaging are helping scientists uncover what happens in the brain when an addicted person is exposed to the drug-associated "cues" that trigger craving -- and lead to relapse. They've found that repeated exposure to psychoactive drugs such as cocaine causes an imbalance in the brain circuits regulating reward and cognitive control. One of these circuits is a pathway involving the neurotransmitter glutamate. In the current study, Moussawi and his colleagues found that NAC restored normal functioning to this circuit in rats that had been previously addicted to cocaine.
