how many days can a blood test for nicotine go back?
Spiked, Yet Already Gone

my dad thinks i been smoking and he said he was going to go and have a nicotine blood test done on me how many days can that blood test go back on?

if it can go back more than 2 days r there any way that i can make it go out of my system faster?

From 85–90 percent of nicotine in the blood is metabolized by the liver and excreted from the kidney rapidly. The estimated half-life for nicotine in the blood is two hours. However, smoking represents a multiple dosing situation with considerable accumulation during smoking. Therefore, it can be expected that blood nicotine would persist at significant levels for six to eight hours after smoking stopped.

Trace nicotine can stay in your system for 20 or more days, but usually if the employer is testing using urinalysis, then your system is likely to show clear of nicotine in two to three days if you are an occasional user, or when you use, you use a small amount , or your history of using tobacco is less than six months. Your system is likely to show clear of nicotine in three to five days if you use once or twice a week, or when you use, you use a moderate to large amount , or your history of using tobacco is more than six months but less than a year. If you use most days of the week, or when you use, you use a moderate to large amount , or your history of using tobacco is greater than one year, then your system is liely to show clear of nicotine in five to ten days. If the employer uses a hair test, the amount of time for your hair to show clear increases, but most employers don't use that method because it's pretty expensive. You can help flush nicotine more quickly from your system by drinking lots of citrus beverages, high in Vitamin C during the first several days along with moderate amounts of water; the vitamin C speeds up the metabolism of nictoine by your body, and of course the fluids will help with the excretion of that metabolized nicotine through your urine.

How can I cover nicotine in my blood?

Well, I've had an eye problem and something is growing on the top of my eye. But the Doctor might have a blood test, and I know you can detect nicotine in the blood. And she might tell my Dad about it. If I got caught being a smoker my Dad wouldn't think twice about beating me.

Please don't tell me to quit smoking or talk to my Dad about it. Just give me an answer.

When doctors run blood tests they test specifically what they're looking for. I can't think of any eye conditions that would require a doctor to know your blood nicotine level, so they will not be testing for it.

Also, they cannot run tests without your consent. They would have to ask if it's ok to test for nicotine. Also, due to doctor-patient privilege, they are not allowed to discuss their findings with your father without your consent.

Can they check your blood for nicotine?

Ok, my cousin wants to volunteer at the hospital...and they told her something like because she is underage or something they are gonna test her and stuff...the thing is she smokes ciggs. Can they tell from your blood that you smoke ciggs? Like if they check your blood for nicotine or whatever? Is that possible?

It is possible to test blood for nicotine, but that is virtually never done. Nicotine is not a controlled substance. Even though it is really bad for ones health, there is no law law prohibiting it.
The law as it regards to cigarettes, is that it is against the law to sell cigarettes to a minor, or anyone under the age of 18.
Tell your cousin to stop smoking, or instead or volunteering at a hospital, she might one day be a patient in one.

How to get nicotine out of your blood?

I am being tested for nicotine in 2 weeks. if i stop smoking now will it be out of my blood? I will be tested specfically for this for a surgery I am having. The doctor wants to make sure I really quit for the time I need which is one month but blood test will be done 2 weeks before. Anyone know for sure if quitting from today for 2 weeks will clear it out of my body?

Data show about 132 minute average half-life for nicotine. Quicker for women and those taking estrogen and Birth COntrol pill with estrogen. Based on the half life and 14 days, your nicotine level will be 5.35E-49. In effect much less than you would get from 2nd hand smoke.

The clearances of nicotine and cotinine, the clearance of nicotine to cotinine, and the trans-3′-hydroxycotinine/cotinine ratio were significantly higher in women than in men (nicotine clearance, 15.6 ± 4.3 mL · min−1 · kg−1 in men versus 18.8 ± 6.6 mL · min−1 · kg−1 in women; P < .001); they were also higher among women taking oral contraceptives than in those who were not taking oral contraceptives (nicotine clearance, 22.5 ± 6.6 mL · min−1 · kg−1 in women taking oral contraceptives versus 17.6 ± 6.1 mL · min−1 · kg−1 in those who were not; P < .05). Women who were menopausal or postmenopausal were not different from men. Among oral contraceptive users, nicotine metabolism was accelerated among those taking combined and estrogen-only contraceptives but not progesterone-only contraceptives.

Interim analysis of an ongoing phase II study with nicotine vaccine shows primary endpoint not achieved

Dissemination of a Corporate News, transmitted by DGAP - a company of EquityStory AG. The issuer / publisher is solely responsible for the content of this announcement.

Schlieren (Zurich), Switzerland, October 15, 2009 - Cytos Biotechnology Ltd (SIX:CYTN) was informed today by Novartis that an interim analysis of a Phase II study with the nicotine vaccine NIC002 showed that the primary endpoint was not achieved. This endpoint was defined as a statistically significant difference in continuous abstinence from smoking determined from weeks 8 to 12 after start of treatment compared to placebo. The study, which is ongoing, is a double blind, placebo-controlled, multi-centre study to evaluate the efficacy, safety, tolerability and immunogenicity of repeated administrations of 100 microgram NIC002 in 200 cigarette smokers who are motivated to quit smoking. In this study the treatment was safe and well tolerated but failed to induce sufficiently high antibody titers, which may have led to the negative outcome. Novartis is continuing the study in order to collect more long-term data on the efficacy and safety of NIC002 and will decide on the next steps once the scheduled 12 month duration of the clinical trial is completed and when all data have been analyzed.
