Tobacco Test

I have to take a tobacco test for a job. I do not smoke, however 2 people in my household do. Can I test positive for tobacco from their smoke?

I am bieng tested at work for Tobacco use, which is called a cotinine test I believe, and I dont smoke a lot, but I really want to keep my job.
What are some ways you can pass a urine test for that? Ive heard of fake urine, or flushing out your system, etc. Anything that has worked for you? This is going to sound really gross, but as long as were bieng open here- does animal urine work? Any information would be great, thank you.

Go to your local health food store. There are two methods you can use. One is a body flush which takes about a week (and costs about $100). The other is a diuretic (much cheaper). The diuretic comes usually as a drink that tastes awful. It will make you urinate (about every 5 minutes for 2 to 3 hours).

Both will make you clean. But it they are testing for other things, such as blood sugar, cholesterol, etc. then you must go with the full body flush. The diuretic will make it look like you are a diabetic with the potential for heart disease.

I am applying for a job in a local hospital and they have a no tobacco rule. I recently quit and am wondering how long until the test will return a negative result.

The tobacco should be out of your system within 72 hours.


By the way, to the person that commented below. It's true. There is a hospital in Seattle that makes you take this test. NO smoking policy. It's starting to be a big thing around here.

i know there are test for drugs alcohol,but is there such a test that can tell if you have tobacco in your system?

Yes there is a test. There is a test for anything on the planet. They can look for anything if a doctor specifically asks for it. The substance or it's byproducts will be there.
But here's an idea, why not just tell your doctor honestly that you have been smoking? Do you think he/she hasn't heard this before? Do you think he/she will be disappointed, angry or refuse to take care of you?
In order to treat you in the best way possible a doctor needs to know everything. That's why there's doctor-patient confidentiality so you can open up and tell them anything. How are they supposed to put the puzzle together if they don't have all the pieces?

At school i have gotten busted for drinking so now the school has the authority to give a random urine test to check for any illegal substances. I was wondering would it be normal for the school to check for tobacco as well as alcohol? or is there no urine test for tobacco? Finally if i smoked yesterday and school is on thursday, would it show up on the test?

Yes. They can and they may actually test for tobacco.

Its a new thing with school districts and actually many employers. I know for a fact that urine tests can detect tobacco use and that they may test you for it if you are getting random tests.

And, it doesnt cost them much more if anything more to test for it because its the exact same tests that they run for drug use it is just a different chemical that shows up.

It depends on how many cigarettes the individual smokes a day. Tobacco use might be detected for one to three days after stopping smoking for a person who smokes only one or two cigarettes a day. A heavy, chronic smoker may continue to show the presence of tobacco use for up to two weeks after stopping smoking.
