Testing Urine

If you go to a physical and you pee in a cup and they test your urine to see how much protein you have, is it possible while doing so they can see if you've been doing drugs by using the same procedure? Or is it different?

Not only does drug testing require an entirely different procedure and protocol, it would be illegal for a doctor's office to do this even if they could. There are designated places for drug testing. It requires a special form signed by you. Office urinalysis doesn't require any special forms. Urine drug testing must be done in a very specific way. You are not allowed to take anything into the bathroom with you except the specimen cup. A specimen cup made for this type of testing is used. Your pockets must be emptied. There is no hot water in the bathroom. The temperature of your urine is checked immediately to verify that it is within normal body temperature range and this must be signed for by the technician. It must be sealed in a certain way. A doctor's office can perform a dip test to check for protein, blood, glucose, white cells, etc. but a drug test specimen is sent out to a lab. Drug testing is NOT done in a doctor's office. There's more but this gives you the general idea. You have nothing to worry about.

Do they take a urine sample when testing for pneumonia? i smoked weed about 2 weeks ago and im about to go to the doctor and they think i have pneumonia. Will they find out by chest x rays? or will they take a urine test?

No. There is no urine test for pneumonia. The most effective way to let any health care professional know you smoke marijuana is to tell them. If you don't smoke weed you don't need to worry about getting caught. If you do, be prepared to own up to it.

My parents randomly test me for thc with urine tests, and to pass i've been keeping my friend's "clean" urine in containers to pass. So far it's worked, but im afraid if i keep the urine for too long it will show up as invalid on the test. so my question is how long can i keep the urine warm in the containers with out showing up as invalid.

you people in here all need to grow the fuck up...who gives a crap what this kid does...u never smoked a lil bud b4? live a little and try sum..im 21 and ive already quit smoking and used to smoke everyday...i also am going to college, have a very hard job, and i make a lot of money, probley more than any of you, so why give sum body so much shit for smoking sum pot...its not crack and its a fine now adays if you get caught...leave him alone...ignorent people...now to answer your question bud, it has a shelf life after about 2 years i believe and than it is fully broke down..u could still use it on drug tests tho if their just home drug tests...if they were being sent to a lab than u would have all other kinds of problems like temp and creatine levels being gone and things like that but since its just a home test than down worry about it...keep using it, keep smoking...but please dont let it take over your life....go to school, do your work, and in your free time, smoke a lil...peace out

For the past few days I have been sick with head ache, body ache, fever, vomiting, and a dry cough. The E.R. ran some blood and urine tests, but they both came back normal. The Dr. mentioned that he didn't think a spinal tap would be necessary. He thinks its just a viral infection. As of today I have started to feel a bit better.

Meningitis is the inflammation of the membranes of the brain and of the spinal cord. To diagnose it, a spinal tap would be necessary. Also, meningitis would not make you cough. I would believe your doctor, especially since you are starting to feel better. It does sound like a viral infection and those can make you feel like you're on your deathbed sometimes. You would not be feeling better if you had meningitis.

Following my last question, (please read if you have no already) I have got my urine pregnany test back from my doctors and it is negative.... Are doctors urine testing better and more accurate than home pregnancy testing?

Not usually. A blood test is more accurate.
