Life Insurance Exam

I have a life insurance exam scheduled in the next few weeks. I had smoked some cigars and cigarettes during a bachelor party not long ago. Should I postpone the medical exam? I am not a smoker and want the non smoker lower premium. Above that I do not want to be flagged for being one.

Most life insurance companies will ask if you've used any kind of tobacco in the past X months (usually 12 months). If you explain to them when and why you smoked they make give you the non smoker rate or make you pay the smoker rate for a year, retake the nicotine test and then lower you down to the nonsmoker rate.

I would advise you not to cover it up because I'll guarantee you that life insurance fraud is much worse than being branded a smoker. Pay the rate you can get now honestly and then after you've been nicotine free for another year then go back and apply for a cheaper rate. If you need the insurance you don't want to wait because you never know what might happen to you in the next year.

You need to know everything in the section, plus all the agent laws.

Don't forget the agent laws.

Take it when you're well rested, and read the questions very, very carefully.

Um, have you even looked at the materials? I'm asking, because they include things besides life insurance questions!

Texas has about a 60% first time pass ratio. I think it's because people think they can "wing it" and don't study. If you KNOW the material, you will pass. If you don't, you won't. You can't bluff your way through.

If you can pass the practice exam at 90%, without cheating, the first time you take it, you'll pass the real exam.

Yes, you need to know the AGENT laws, in the book, and accident and health stuff, in addition to the life. Texas doesn't have a life only license.

Anyone, anyone?? I have already passed the series 6 and 63. But with all this studying I've done for one month and one week now...i am having a really HARD time getting motivated for this last exam!

I think life insurance exam is pretty easy, but understanding state laws and regulations is another story. In my state, they separate the two parts. If you fail one part, you fail the whole exam! There were 60 life insurance questions and 40 law questions in my state. Then when you do pass the exam, they don't even show you your score!

Hopefully in your state, they combine the two parts together. My advice is study your law part heavily. When you take your state exam, read the question and eliminate some of the answers that makes no sense. If you are stuck, mark it and move on and get back to it later.
