i have herpes...Q's- will my partners testing come back as positive?
It will come back positive if your partner has the virus.
But, like I said in your other question, most doctors diagnose genital herpes by a physical exam during a herpes outbreak. Fluid from the sores can also be taken. There is a blood test for herpes, but I've read it can sometimes be inaccurate by providing a false positive or an inconclusive result.

So, I've always tried to be careful in the past about not getting herpes in the past by getting regularly tested and asking my partners to do the same. It hasn't really been an issue until now though. I'm dating a girl I really like, but her doctor and her gynecologist are telling her that since she doesn't have symptoms, she shouldn't get tested and that they actually will refuse to test her for the virus. What am I to think about this? I'm interested in what other women are hearing from their doctors.
Gynecologists say that unless you highly suspect that you have it, and that you're seeing symptoms, don't get tested. I didn't have any symptoms, but I asked my gynecologist if I could still get tested, and she had no problem doing the bloodwork...this girl's story sounds a bit fishy to me. If she has health insurance (and even if she does not, places like planned parenthood will do it for free) then she should be able to test her. There is NO WAY they will refuse her, they aren't allowed (UNLESS it poses a danger to her health, which I'm sure a needle won't)
Good for you for being safe, keep doing what you're doing. Talk to her, and good luck =)

My test results just came back and they were HSV-1 IgG =1.3 Positive and HSV-2 IgG 1.2 Positive. I had cold sores as a child and my partner is HSV-2 IgG - 3.5 and negative for HSV-1, what is the possibility that I had a false positive reaction.
you have circulating antibodies to both hsv-1(oral) and hsv-2 (genital). your partner has hsv-2 also, but no hsv-1 antibodies. looks like you both probably have genital herpes by the results you have posted here. I highly doubt it was a false postive, these are pretty sophisticated test, but if in doubt, ask for a repeat test

I've contracted herpes type 1, which I tested positive for last year... but I'm not sure who I go it from, though I have my suspicions. I've had only a few sexual partners my whole life, and I keep beating myself up about not knowing who I got it from. So I'm asking if there's any test that can tell me how long I've been infected. Please, I need honest answers.
no way to tell how long it's been there (or other stds)... unless you were tested and negative and then positive. herpes type 1 is usually the oral form, but can occur on the genitals after contact with someone that is shedding the virus (unfortunately, no one really knows when they are shedding). a very high portion of the population (more than 50%) has some form of herpes, though they may have only had one outbreak (chickenpox is a different strain of herpes).
I got tested (blood tests) for all the major STD's just for health verification. The herpes test came back positive, but I've never had an outbreak or any symptoms. So I am being re-tested and I'm very nervous. Is it possible for those test results to be wrong?
Almost all tests have a chance of false positive results... You're getting tested again, so if this test is positive then unfortunatly you have herpes. If it's negative you're probably safe. But... just because you've never had an outbreak, it doesn't mean you don't have the virus. Best wishes.

New Herpes Testing Technique Set to Launch
An innovative biomedical engineer at Boston University is set to release a finger-prick blood test that can show instantly whether someone has HSV-2, chlamydia, or syphilis.
It's an important step – currently, doctors need an active outbreak to test herpes lesions directly, and the blood tests available now are known to produce false negatives and false positives. An easier test for the virus may also help to remove the stigma surrounding herpes – if everyone who actually has HSV-2 was made aware of it, it could help to universalize the issue.
