Medical test for Dubai residence visa - is Hepatitis B vaccination for every one?
San Francisco Hep B Free

I am planning to bring my wife and kid to dubai. Recently I read that Hepatitis B test is made compulsary and Hepatitis B vaccination is made compulsary for everyone. Will my kid also will undergo the medical tests and Hepatitis B vaccination? Kid's age is 1yr 11 month. pls advice.

"According to the decision taken by the Minister of Health Humaid Al Quttami, the rules are being implemented on a trial basis for three months, and may be subject to change in the coming months."

A group of professionals who are especially under the scanner include food handlers, nannies, housemaids, educators/teachers, and people who work in restaurants and heath fields due to the sensitivity of their profession.

This "law/rule" is so new and still on trial, that no details are provided. Right now housewifes who apply for a residence visa also do NOT have to undergo the TB x-ray. Therefore I assume that the requirements regarding Hepatitis vaccinations will be for the mentioned professions only.

What is hepatitis A and Hepatitis B test?
San Francisco Hep B Free

I gave my blood test and the doctor has asked me to take vaccination for hepatitis A and Hepatitis B? Should i take it what will happen if i dont take? I am not preggo. I am ttc#1. Please comments needed

Hepatitis A is commonly contracted in restraunts. It's from employees using the bathroom and not washing their hands and contaminating your food. You will feel really really bad but usually recover. Hep B is a nasty nasty disease that affects your liver. It is my belief that everyone should be vacinated for Hep B. Even if you are not, there is a good chance that nothing will happen, but I would rather be safe than sorry. It usually comes in a series of 3 shots.

Hepatitis B?

My husband is positive "Hepatitis B core antibody" and all the other hepatitis B tests are negative, two months ago also he was having the same result.
Six months ago he was all negative.
I also tested my self it came all negative.
He is not having any health complications and he didn't have any troubles for the last three years.
Doctor told him you don't have to take any treatment; have sex with your wife without protection!!!!
My questions are:
1- Is the viruses still a live in his liver?
2-what is the chance to transfer the virus to me.
3- What is the likelihood for the virus to start active again?
4- Do you suggest any medicine for him at this stage?
5- Is the "Hepatitis B core antibody" test required for immigration or they are asking for the "Hepatitis surface antigen" test only

If it's cleared out of his system then it's cleared already. He's fine now, with an addition of an antigen in his liver, but that's no cause for alarm.

About your questions, I'll try my best to answer them
1. Nope; virus has cleared already...what the positive result means is that the core antigen (the actual molecular structure bound to the virus itself that reacts with the immune system's antibodies) is just in the surface of his liver; it could come off or just stay there depending on time, but just the core antigen will not do anything to your husband's body--think of it as craters on a moon after being bombarded with asteroids; or like scars after getting a wound. But no, there are no viruses capable of infection.
2. IF and ONLY IF your husband is STILL infected with Hep B virus, some of the possible ways he can transmit it to you is by blood transfusion, open wound to open wound contact, sexual intercourse, and sharing of needles, among others. Since your husband is clear already of the virus, you can pretty much do the ones I mentioned without having to worry about contracting the virus itself (unless of course he has another infection), although I don't have any logical response as to why you would do those.
3.No chace of it being active again, since it is only an antigenic determinant; if what was left was the viral DNA of Hep B virus and it somehow gets inside one of your husband's cells, then the whole thing might start all over again...this is in theory only; in reality, your husband would not have to worry so much about re-infection unless he gets re-infected.
4.Just like what the doctor ordered--none; if you want supplements such as Liverade, then that would be fine...just make sure that Liverade is ok for him to take.
5. Ah, now comes the tricky part, because this is a topic upon which immigration can get really picky and will scrutinize the hell out of people applying (if you guys are applying)...I am not being a tolerating person, but if the immigration asks for any infectious disease, but does not ask for any further medical record, just answer NO; I believe that this is not part of the criteria in reporting any infection that might have occured or currently occuring.

Hope this helps! And he's fine by the way. :)

what is the meaning of the result "hbsg-reactive" in hepatitis b screen test?

what is the meaning of the result "hbsg-reactive" in hepatitis b screen test

Depends. If you have had the vaccination against hep b then this is a good thing meaning that you have antibodies angainst the virus that causes hep b. If you have not had the vaccinations, then you need to speak with the health care provider that ordered the test to determine what the next course of action for you to take.

Are new hepatitis B, C tests added for medical test a must for all expats or for a few categories?

  • China to End Required Testing for Hepatitis B | MyHealth Beijing

The hepatitis B virus is one of those dangerous viruses that can cause chronic disease; this one attacks the liver, and after many years can cause liver failure (cirrhosis), liver cancer and death. Unfortunately, in China this disease is extremely common, with an estimated 10% of Chinese infected for life. In China, most people get infected from their mothers at childbirth from blood-blood mixing. Many people also got infected from reused needles in clinics, especially in rural areas, in the 80’s and 90’s.

The problem in China is not just low use of the hepatitis B vaccine but also a huge social stigma, comparable to HIV. Most companies and schools illegally test people for hepatitis B and will not hire or enroll them if positive.
