How far back do grocery stores test for drugs in hair folicles?

I smoked weed about a week ago, and yes, I got high.
But since then, I hadn't smoked in about 1 year, but I used to smoke a lot before that (I got pregnant and stopped).

I am going to need to get a job in about 6-7 months, and I know I won't smoke again... Honestly. Being high just isn't fun anymore.

Anyway, I would prefer getting a job at a grocery store. The only problem is that I know they all so hair-drug testing.
Do you know how far back they test the hair? Do they test like an inch of hair, 2 inches, 4 inches? I know they test from the root.. So yea.. I would just like to know if I would pass that test.

ive never heard of a grocery store doing anything like that. .. maybe a pharmacy within a grocery store. i mean geez, put cans underneath break and dont break the eggs. why would they need to drug test you

definitely. i was told to avoid drugs for 3 months beforehand, because they only test a small section of new growth. also, the hair tests are actually pretty bad at detecting marijuana (if that's what you were doing) bc thc doesnt bond to the hair proteins. if they're giving u a hair test it's cuz they care more about other things (like rx abuse, for eg, if ur gonna be a nurse)

Drugs (both illegal and prescription) are incorporated INTO the hair follicle. They are not deposited on the outside. Shampoos and strippers do not work. As long as the drug is in your system it will be deposited in your hair.

EDIT: Hair follicle tests generally go back 90 days.

What do the results of a Hair Drug Test look like?

People have to take hair drug tests. How are the results broken down? By time? By hair section? By length? How many sections are there? Is there a standard set of drugs that are tested for? Does anyone have a link that shows an actual hair test result report?


I just want to share a little tid bit that happened to a buddy of mine... he was going in for a new job and knew there would be a hair test, so the idiot shaved his head. The test person didn't even bat an eyelash, she just lifted his arm and snipped off some of his armpit hair before he even realized what she was doing. So my guess would be that the hair does not need to be very long. Just wanted to share my story in case you're thinking of going bald for your test!
