Creatinine Blood Test

Bieng an sle patient, my frien have serum creatinine blood test report is 3.2, just want to know that what is the extreme level of this test for the said patients, who have type 4 sle.

Serum creatinine isn't the best indicator; you want to know the glomerular filtration rate (often called the GFR). Doctors disagree, but generally somewhere around 5-15ml/min is the worst stage, & these patients usually go on dialysis.
I just plugged that serum creatinine level into an equation that estimates GFR from the serum creatinine, here: http://nephron.org/cgi-bin/MDRD_GFR/cgi< br /> You can do it yourself, but the upshot is that depending on age, gender and race (I guessed 30yrs; it drops a little as you get older), they're probably around 20-33ml/min. 90ml/min is what healthy people have but your body can cope with a lot less. Renal disease: 60-89 is mild, 30-59 is moderate, 15-29 is severe and less is renal failure. Some doctors say it has to be less than 10ml for renal failure.

I am ondering how long if the results are bad would I wait to recieve a phone call from the doctor? Please help Im really worried.

It depends...unfortunately. It depends if they test it there or send it off. It depends on your insurance too. When things are done STAT (now) it costs a lot more than when they do it on their time. I have frequent creatinine blood tests because I am on the kidney transplant list. I usually get mine in 2 or 3 days.

Call your doctor's office and let them know your concern and when can you hear from them about the test. Take Care!

I am a known Diabetic for last 10 yrs. I get my blood tests done every 3-5 months. My last 2 tests show elevated creatinine level [120 & 117]. Other things like Blood Urea , Uric acid, Blood sugar[Fasting] & Hb1AC readings are in normal range.

that is high. when mine was that high i started dialysis. i got a kidney and pancreas transplant so i am no longer a diabetic. i would ask your doctor a name of a good kidney Doctor and go see him about your test results. do not waste time go mow

i'am 5'8,male 37YO and weight 97kilo. i go to gym twice a week and play basketball once a week. I do regular exercise and regularly eat oatmeal breakfast & dinner.

Check again. There are sever different creatinine test dn I would have to know exactly which one it was.

BUT...

For the most commonly used test this is a normal level.
