Blood Test Results

I'm 17 and I'm not overweight, but my triglycerides and cholesterol are very high. I eat an ok diet, it's not great but it shouldn't have elevated my triglycerides and cholesterol to alarming levels. I ate pizza just before my blood test though and I was wondering if that could have affected my blood test results...
I'm scheduled for another tomorrow to verify those results, so I want to know what to expect.

Yes... why wouldn't it. That's the deal with Diabetics. Things get into your blood that doctors might not want while testing your blood. But if the doctors didn't say anything about not eating, then it's not a big deal.

I had blood tests at hospital. Am having another appointment for another investigation in 6-ish weeks time. I've waited 3 already. I rang the hospital and the consultant says I have to wait til then for the first blood test results. Do I have to wait this long?

It depends upon where you are located globally. Some of the phrases and expressions you use suggest to me your are somewhere other than the United States. Here where I live, in the United States, you can get lab results in a matter of hours. The only exception is when a test is being done that requires 72 hours for incubation of bacteria. In that case, you would receive the results after 72 hours.

A month ago, my mom had a blood test done and today the doctor called her and said she has a cancellation tomorrow and asked if she would like to come in tomorrow.

I know some doctors ask you to come in even though nothing is wrong and they call you in right away if something is wrong. So when would the doctor of gotten the results?

It depends what kind of test your mother had done! Your general blood tests (haematology (full blood count) and serum chemistry (liver function test, UEC, lipids) will generally be available at the lab within an hour or so, though the doctor will get them next day. Other tests, like urine test, feaces and swabs, take a couple of days for a culture to grow. More obsure tests that may need to be send to other labs in larger cities can take upwards of 21days!.....so, provided your mother just had a general checkup you have absolutely nothing at all to worry about! A thorough GP will always want to go over results!

To check if im pregnant.Im almost positive that im pregnant since i have all the same symptoms that i had from my son but i had 3 negatives adn the same thing happened last time i was pregnant..I had all false positives for some strange reason then one positive.So im going to get a blood test.Do they send it to the lab and then get the results back later or do they run it right there?Like prick your finger or something and check it?

Every time I've had blood work done it only takes a day or two tops to get the results. My doc always calls the day after I had labs done to let me know the results. They won't prick you finger, they will actually draw a tube of blood. If you have the test done tomorrow morning you should get the results by tomorrow afternoon. If they don't call you by the next day then call your doc and ask. Good luck

I was wondering, is it a simple case of asking for a copy of some blood test results if you would like to view them? Typically (in the UK) can they then fax them over or put them in the post relatively quickly?

Yea, we do that in my office all the time. You just have to give the office consent that you want them faxed or mailed to you
