methadose which is pretty much the same as methadone. they use it in methadone clinics, does that and methadone show up on a standard 5 panel test. i hear it doesn't i'd just like to know the answer for sure tho. thank you

No methadone does not appear as an opiate on a 5 panel drugs screen or any other drug screen. Drugs on a 5 panel screen include Amphetamines (including Methamphetamine, "Crystal Meth"), Cannabinoids (THC, Marijuana), Cocaine, Opiates (Codeine, Morphine, Heroin, Oxycodone, Vicodin, etc.), & Phencyclidine (PCP).
Methadone does not cross react with the standard opiate drug screen. It must be specifically screened for.Most "drug tests" are really "drug screens". That is, they only show that there is a probability that a substance similar to a particular drug is present in a sample. However, even though methadone and heroin are both "opioids" and have similar effects, their chemical structures are very different. For this reason, methadone does not react with the drug screens used to look for heroin. Therefore treatment programs use separate screens for methadone and heroin-type opioids (such as morphine and codeine).Opium is a black, gooey extract of the opium poppy (papaver somniferum). The main active ingredients in opium are the drugs morphine and codeine. These and other drugs found in or manufactured from opium are called "opiates". Heroin is made from morphine so it is also an opiate.
There are also drugs with effects like those of morphine but which are manufactured entirely in a laboratory. Methadone is an example of such a man-made drug. The term "opioid" is used to describe all these synthetic drugs as well as the 'natural' opiates. In other words, morphine, codeine, heroin, and methadone are all "opioids", but only morphine, codeine, and heroin are "opiates."

I took a drug test today for employment and it was "35304N NIDA 5 Panel W/NIT"

Does a 5 panel just test for THC, cocaine, opiates, PCP and Amphetamines or could it be ANY five, with like prescription drugs included?

As in, if I'm taking xanax will I fail for benzodiazepines or are they not even looking for it?

If you are prescribed a medication by your doctor, you will not "fail" the drug test.

You tell the test facility NOTHING. Their MRO will contact you in the event you need confirmation from your Dr. You are however, required to tell your employer of any drugs you are prescribed that can interfere with your job performance or safety.

If you have a script for the Xanax, then why are you worried about it? All you have to do is show that it's legal,and it's as if it was never there (in the test results). By giving the test people the number of hte pharmacy and/or the Dr. that prescribed it, they will call to verify, and you will be fine.

Reason being my husband had back surgery and got on narcotics cause of the pain now he is wanting to get off them so they gave him methadone. He is looking to get a job where they drug test you. What it show up? It is doctor prescribed but most employers wont hire if you have any kind of drug in your system.

Yes Methadone will show up on a 5 panel drug test- It will show up on any drug test. Sorry- However, you are incorrect thinking that employers will not hire a person if they have any kind of drug in their system. If you or in this case your husband shows positive for drugs and they are prescribed by a doctor and documentation can be presented- then the drug test for those finding can not be used to determine employment eligibility.
In this specific case, because the drug that is going to come up is Methadone, it will raise suspicion about why he is on Methadone- basically because Methadone is more times than not prescribed for recovering drug addicts.
My advice for your husband is to tell the company that he is on Methadone because he was hurt and the doctor prescribed it for him- He should bring in any and all paperwork with him to the interview and be completely truthful about it. The company will also have to send him out for a drug test instead of doing a 5 panel drug test. The 5 panel tests will test by the major categories. It will not give a reading of what type of drug he is actually testing positive to. He is totally within his legal rights to ask to be tested by a doctor and not a 5 panel.
