second-hand smoke and blood test

Answers

Will second hand weed smoke cause you to fail a blood or urine test?

My roommate smokes weed everyday. I've never smoked a day in my life and I'm leaving for the Navy in a month and am afraid that the second-hand smoke I breathe in just walking around the house will cause my blood and urine tests to come up positive.

It can. It depends how much you're inhaling. It is stored in the fat cells and can stay in the system enough to test positive MONTHS later, not just weeks as someone has already said. There is actually a formula (probation and parole use) for the rate THC levels must drop to show someone is not using.

Can you fail a drug test Hair/Blood/Urin through second hand smoke with marijuana?

I was sitting in a room (about 20' x 20' or so) and they smoke about .5 or 1 ounce of marijuana in 40minutes and the room door was open and they blew the smoke away from me. I have a drug test about a week from now. Will i fail any of the drug tests?

It is possible for you to fail a drug test from second-hand marijuana smoke.

Even if it looks like the smoke is not getting near to you, it is still being breathed into your lungs.

Since you are undergoing a drug test, it makes me wonder if you are currently in an alcohol/drug treatment program.

You've probably been told many times to change people, places, and things in order to steer clear of the trigger to use again.

If you are in treatment, it's not only the marijuana smoke you need to worry about...you are playing with fire with your own life.

Knowing what you have to lose, what causes you to be around people who are keeping you away from being clean?
Are you serious about being clean? Why or why not?

If this is for employment, what causes you to be willing to sacrifice a job to be around people who will keep you from it?

It sounds to me like you have some choices to make. And, if your test is positive (which it probably will be), it is best for you to be honest. (Of course, you probably know that.)

Wishing you the best.

Can second hand marijuana smoke be detected in a blood test?

I know that it is possible to tell if you've ever consumed drugs or alcohol if the tester tries hard enough, is it possible to detect that you've inhaled second hand marijuana smoke and would they be able to tell that it was SECOND HAND smoke?
yeah i mean it's pretty unreasonable for them to expect u to NEVER come into contact with second hand smoke, i was on a packed bus in London on New years and someone was smoking a joint, so I guess everyone on the bus could have failed a drug test immediately after

of course yes. you can find the article in www.widemen.com

how long does cotinine stay in blood and urine after being around second hand smoke?

I do not smoke but all of my friends do. I have to take a blood and urine test on saturday for cotinine for my health insurance. I just read that cotinine can get in your system just from second hand smoke.

Cotinine has an in vivo half life of approximately 20 hours, and is typically detectable for several days to up to one week after the use of tobacco. The level of cotinine in the blood is proportionate to the amount of exposure to tobacco smoke, so it is a valuable indicator of tobacco smoke exposure, including secondary (passive) smoke. People who smoke menthol cigarettes may retain cotinine in the blood for a longer period because menthol can compete with cotinine enzymatic metabolism. Genetic encoding of liver enzymes may also play a role, as black people routinely register higher blood cotinine levels than white people. Several variable factors, such as menthol cigarette preference and puff size, suggest that the explanation for this difference may be more complex than gender or race.

second hand cigarette smoke?

if you take a nicotine drug test..will second hand smoke show up? I know fist hand smoke will. I want to know if my daughter is being exposed to smoke. I have asked everyone I can think of no one knows. Including the quit smoking help line.

If I take my daughter and get a blood test will it detect smoke?

most likely yes, but not to the same degree of concentration as you would have. if second hand smoke can cause health problems, then i would have an affect on bloods tests. both my parent smoked, and i pretty sure that had a lot to do with my yearly case of bronchitis. proceed with caution.

Emphysema symptoms

In the United States there are almost two million people who suffer from emphysema. It is a common chronic condition that many people have to live with. Emphysema symptoms are challenging to live with on a daily basis. Emphysema is a disease of the lungs usually caused by smoking, from working around harmful chemicals or continued exposure to second had smoke. The typical person with emphysema is around 65 years of age and is male. Women can have emphysema too but it is more prevalent in men.

The first signs of emphysema begin with shortness of breath that worsens over time. After awhile the person will experience coughing spells and may being to spit up sputum. Emphysema symptoms are a sign that the airways of the lungs have experienced permanent damage. The shortness of breath will eventually lead to a reduced capacity for physical activity. As time goes by the person will be able to do less and less physical activity due to not getting enough oxygen. The shortness of breath may eventually even occur during rest and the person’s skin can take on a bluish tint. Air trapped in the damaged lungs is what causes the shortness of breath and wheezing. As the lung tissue is damaged it will become hardened and lose elasticity and become inflamed. Air breathed in gets trapped in the airways and the natural ability for it to be released easily from the lungs is impaired. As the person breathes in there will be no room for fresh air with life giving oxygen because of the already trapped air taking up lung capacity. Because oxygen is then reduced in the blood, the person experiences shortness of breath and their breathing becomes labored. This difficulty in breathing will increase over time.
